South Surrey / Grandview Heights
Community Info
Grandview Heights has seen a boom in development over the last few years. Located east of Sunnyside and south of the Kensington Prairie community centre, the community has grown to include a mix of new residential areas, large property homes and commercial development, including the Grandview Corners shopping area.
Much like the area’s beautiful Morgan Crossing shopping district, Grandview Corners offers a unique outdoor shopping experience where residents can stroll along the quaint main street lined with upscale fashion and home furnishing stores, casual bistros, coffee shops and restaurants. In addition to the smaller shops and services, Grandview Corners conveniently offers a traditional mix of value-oriented retailers including Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Future Shop.
With nearby Redwood Park and White Rock Beach, Grandview Corners also offers plenty of green space, walking trails and parkland. The area is also the home of the newly built Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre and Grandview Heights High School on the corner of 24ave and 168st. Schools include the new Pacific Heights Elementary and the prestigious Southridge private school.
Schools and Amenities
Morgan Creek offers residents close proximity to modern community facilities and amenities, including the award-winning Morgan Creek golf course and the Grandview Heights shopping district.
Grandview Heights is nearby Redwood Park and White Rock Beach, Grandview Corners also offers plenty of green space, walking trails and parkland. The area is also the location for a proposed 50-metre pool on the corner of 24 Avenue and 168 Street.
Sunnyside Elementary School makes the best use of a green location - next to an environmentally-protected creek, extensive use of natural light, and excellent use of healthy construction materials – all in a less traffic-congested area. It’s in the heart of Morgan Heights and it’s built to accommodate a growing population of young families moving into the area.
Semiahmoo Secondary School is well known for their International Baccalaureate (IB) program where students hone their critical thinking skills and promotes global citizenship. Often providing more opportunities to compete for major scholarships both locally and internationally, the IB diploma is both enriched and accelerated with many students going directly to the second year at many universities such as UVIC, SFU, McGill, Harvard, and Oxford.
Other area schools include Morgan Creek Elementary, Pacific Heights Elementary, Earl Marriot Secondary (offering French Immersion), Elgin Park Secondary and Southridge private school.
